About The Gathering Community

This is an accessible building that will enable the pooling of resources to support organisations concerned with the wellbeing of people with disabilities, mental health and additional needs.

We aim to provide a service where people can get together to make new and maintain existing friendships in an accessible building. We will have allocated spaces and sessions for activities like arts and crafts, sensory spaces, cooking, games, bingo, quiz and entertainment. Along with social activities we plan to provide training opportunities and look at community work placements.

There will be a variety of beneficiaries from the Gathering including but not exclusive to;

• People with learning disabilities

• People with additional needs

• People with mobility needs

• People with mental health needs

• Children and Adults of all ages

• Carers and family 

The wellbeing impact on society and the disabled community will be significant. This includes:

● Socialisation

● Skill sharing

● Volunteering opportunities

● Training opportunities

● Relaxation space

There is currently no service nearby that provides a service that is fully accessible that caters for people with disabilities.
